THE RED BOX PHOTOGRAPHS

Several years after my mother’s death, I found an old red and tattered cardboard box full of old family photographs. Many of the faces and the places in these photographs were only known to me through my fantasy creations as I listened to my family’s stories over the years. All of the images in this series are composited and include aspects of these old family photographs. They are my attempt to put a contemporary perspective on my interest and desire to connect with generations before me, and to in some way make these family stories come alive. They are also a canvas to understand better my emotions in the context of the world I navigate today.
